InfiniBand Interconnect for AI Clusters

Treat cluster interconnect as a connected procurement requirement. SkyTrade helps international buyers clarify their topology and coordinate China-side hardware sourcing across compute nodes, adapters, switches and the links between them.

This is a procurement relationship diagram, not a validated network design. SkyTrade is a sourcing partner and does not manufacture the complete stack.

Configuration options to discuss

Keep InfiniBand generations and module aggregate rates distinct. NVIDIA documents NDR as 400 Gbps per link and twin-port OSFP arrangements supporting two links. Ask for the specific generation—XDR, NDR, HDR or EDR—rather than assuming an 800G or 1.6T module label defines the InfiniBand link speed.

Applications

  • Sourcing planning for new AI training clusters.
  • Expansion of an existing GPU computing fabric.
  • HPC and inference infrastructure requiring a coordinated compute and network BOM.

Sourcing and configuration considerations

  • Start with a port-to-port topology and distinguish node-facing links from switch uplinks.
  • Select media against the actual generation and endpoint documentation. DAC, ACC, AOC and pluggable optics are not universally interchangeable choices.
  • List acceptance criteria, required documentation and any separate engineering or testing scope before procurement.

Why source through SkyTrade

SkyTrade brings the compute and interconnect requirements into one sourcing brief, coordinates China-side supplier questions and helps compare quotations without claiming to certify the whole cluster.

Frequently asked questions

Does SkyTrade supply a pre-validated complete cluster?

This service is requirement-based sourcing and procurement coordination. Any design validation, integration or testing scope must be separately defined and confirmed.

Can an 800G OSFP label be treated as an 800G NDR link?

No. Documented twin-port NDR modules can carry two 400G links. Verify per-link bandwidth and port mapping for the proposed equipment.
